తుంగ, భద్ర రెండు నదుల కలయిక వలన కర్ణాటకలో పుట్టిన తుంగభద్రనది ఆంధ్ర ప్రదేశ్లో ప్రవేశించి కర్నూలు, మహబూబ్ నగర్ జిల్లా సరిహద్దుల గుండా ప్రవహించి ఆలంపూర్ సమీపంలోని సంగమేశ్వరం వద్ద కృష్ణానదిలో సంగమిస్తుంది. ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో తుంగభద్ర పుష్కరాలను నిర్వహించడం ఇది తొలిసారి. ఈ నది ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో రెండే జిల్లాల నుండి ప్రవహిస్తుంది కాబట్టి రెండు జిల్లాలలో ఉన్న తుంగభద్ర తీరప్రాంతాలలో స్నానఘాట్లను ఏర్పాటుచేసి జిల్లా యంత్రాంగం 12 రోజుల పాటు యాత్రికులకు సౌకర్యాలు కల్పించాలి
