Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET-2021) for the year 2021 will be conducted on 31 October 2021, in accordance with G.O.Ms.No.47, Higher Education (CE) Department and Reaccreditation of UGC, New Delhi for recruitment and promotions of Lecturers/ Assistant Professors in Universities and Degree Colleges as per the U.G.C. Regulations for the year 2021.Eligible Candidates who wish to apply for APSET-2021 may submit their application through online mode. 




The Registration fee of Rs.1,200/-(for General and EWS Categories) Rs.1000/-(for B.C. category) and Rs.700/-(for SC/ST/PWD/ Transgender categories) may be paid through payment gateway (Credit card/Debit card/ Net banking).

ELIGIBILITY OF APSET 2021


(i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC (on the website: www.ugc.ac.in/oldpdf/consolidated%20list%20of%20All%20universities. pdf) are eligible for this Test. The Backward Classes (BC) /Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Transgender/persons with disability (PwD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

(ii) Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of BC / SC / ST / PwD / Transgender category candidates). Such candidates must complete their Masters degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of SET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

(iii) Candidates belonging to the transgender category would be eligible to draw the same relaxation in fee, age and qualifying criteria for SET (i.e. Assistant Professor) as are available to SC/ST/PwD categories. The subject wise cut-offs for this category should be the lowest among those for SC/ST/PwD/BC categories in the corresponding subject.

(iv) The Ph.D.degree holders whose Master’s level examination have been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.

(v) Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post Graduation only. The candidates, whose Post Graduation subject is not covered in the list of SET subjects may appear in a related subject.

(vi) Candidates are neither required to send any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility nor printout of their Application Form (Confirmation Page) to APSET office. However the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the APSET at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action. APSET does not verify the information provided by the candidates during online registration and hence candidature will be purely provisional subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria.

(vii) Candidates having post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/ Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/ institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/ certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), NewDelhi (www.aiu.ac.in)

(viii) There is no upper age limit for applying for eligibility for test.

(ix) The qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor only in the universities/ colleges situated in the Andhra Pradesh state from where they have cleared their SET. NET/SET/SLET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professors in Universities/Colleges/ Institutions. In this regard, exemption from NET/SET/SLET will be governed by UGC regulations and amendments notified in the Gazette of India from time to time.

Medium of Question Paper


The question paper - I which is common for all candidates appearing APSET will be bilingual (English and Telugu).

Paper – II for the following subjects a) Commerce b) Economics c) Education d) History e) Political Science f) Public Administration and g) Sociology will be bilingual (English and Telugu). All the remaining papers are in English only except Hindi, Sanskrit, Telugu and Urdu.

Paper-I 100 marks/50 Questions 

Duration: 1 Hours  (09:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.) IST

Paper-II 200 marks/100 Questions 

Duration: 2 Hours (10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.) IST

Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. Paper-I shall consist of 50 objective type questions. Each question will carry 2 marks.

Paper-II shall consist of 100 objective type questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.

The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper – I and Paper - II on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) Sheet provided along with the test booklet

There is no negative marking.

Important Instructions to the Applying Candidates



Verify your eligibility before registering your application.

Andhra Pradesh State Government rule of reservation is applicable for APSET (Certificate issued by Andhra Pradesh Government is only valid).

Click on the Register link to register for Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test 2021.

Fill in the required information and enter a password of your choice. Please note that this password along with the register email id will be used to login and complete your registration process.

Candidate Name, Father's Name, Date of Birth, Email ID and Mobile number once submitted cannot be changed.

Your registered Mobile number may be used to send SMS communication

The email id and mobile number that you enter in the registration form will be treated as your primary contact details and all communications will be sent to the same.

A confirmation message is displayed on your screen and an email will be sent to the registered email id. Click on the "Make Payment" link and continue to make the application fee payment. Alternatively, you may login later using your registered Email ID and password to make the payment and complete the process. Remember your email-id and password of the application for your future correspondence.

A summary is displayed along with the total amount payable. Click on the "Make Payment" link, you will be redirected to the payment gateway website.

Application Fee Payment

Application form processing fees as stated below is to be paid through online system only by Credit Card/ Debit Card (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Internet Banking for which the convenience charges shall be applicable in addition to the application fee.

No other mode of payment shall be permitted.

This fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

For OC / EWS Category Candidates : ₹ 1200/- + Convenience Charges

For BC-A,BC-B,BC-C,BC-D,BC-E Category Candidates : ₹ 1000/- + Convenience Charges

For SC/ST/PWD/Transgender : ₹ 700/- + Convenience Charges

On payment of the Application Fee, the same will reflect in your application profile.

Fill in the remaining details i.e. educational qualification, choice of examination centre etc. and click "Submit".

Upload your scanned photograph and signature in jpg/jpeg format only. File size of the Photograph should be between 15kb to 50kb, Signature should be between 5kb to 20kb. The online application system will not allow to upload files smaller/larger than the mentioned sizes.

If you claim any reservation upload the necessary caste/ disability / economically weaker section certificate. The size of scanned copy for caste / disability / economically weaker section certificate should be between 50kb to 300kb. The online application system will not allow to upload files smaller/larger than the mentioned sizes.

You may take a print of your filled in Application form generated, for your records and future reference.

Incomplete application will be rejected.
